The class had an immediate impact on my practice. I feel much more confident in my application of the Walton Pressure Scale, specifically working at a level 2. The “say less” approach to intake, and inviting clients to “say more,” has resulted in more connection as well as more expansive intake interviews, helping to foster the therapeutic relationship while yielding the information I need to work safely and effectively. I also feel more confident in my clinical reasoning and my ability to tease out what modifications need to be made and why. Meet Rebecca Sturgeon, Lead Instructor
Rebecca works tirelessly to organize existing courses and to create new opportunities for Healwell to offer meaningful and robust inter-professional education for massage therapists and other healthcare providers.
Rebecca co-authored "Oncology Massage: An integrative approach to cancer care" (Handspring, 2021.) As a former teacher of writing at the college level, Rebecca is passionate about the written word and about all forms of human communication. In her massage practice, she focuses on integrating therapeutic massage as part of overall health and wellness care. She is also an experienced mentor to new massage therapists, and facilitator of learning groups.
